Camp Kitchen, a shop-and-cafe concept that operated inside Frontier Mall over the last year, has made the difficult decision to close their doors. It closed in late January of 2025.
Previous events of Camp Kitchen
In February 2024, it was reported here on Optopolis that Currents Custom, LLC would be opening a shop at the Frontier Mall called Camp Kitchen, taking over a previous pizza shop. Camp Kitchen was a food joint that offered fresh eats on the spot and prepackaged snacks to-go. When it first opened, Camp Kitchen's menu initially included paninis, chips, arepas, and coffee.
In recent months, menu options also included breakfast items like pancakes, french toast, biscuits and gravy, and bacon/sausage; as well as additional lunch items such as cabbage burgers and salads. A printed menu even included muffins and pastries. Their shop also had dried fruit, fruit leather, and granola. One could also order their pre-packaged products through Shopify, as can be seen on their Link Tree as of the time of writing.

They had set up a GoFundMe in order to raise money for better equipment that could further help and better enable the business to run, such as a freeze dryer, but GoFundMe indicates that they were unable to meet their $12,000 goal; it sits at 0% complete as of the time of writing. The GoFundMe page, however, indicates that Dini Arnold and his mother had been running the business with the "dream [of being] your local source of camping and hiking meals, without dyes or preservatives."
Announcement of closure
On Thursday, January 23rd, 2025, Camp Kitchen posted to their Facebook page that, "It is with heavy hearts and many tears that we now must tell you Goodbye. We are unable to continue trying to make a go of Camp Kitchen." The post later goes on to say, "We were trying to be different, and I guess that was our mistake. Anyway, we wish all of you the best." The restaurant was confirmed by Optopolis to have already closed their doors as of January 23rd, although the exact day of closure isn't yet confirmed.

In their post, they also mention that Space 80 at Frontier Mall is still very much set up for a pizza restaurant. Although the space did get a repaint, most of the base fixtures (such as the buffet bar, ordering counter, and pizza ovens) are still in place.
They mention that, "...if you or someone you know is looking for a turn key restaurant space, you should look into Space 80." Camp Kitchen was located next door to Kay Jewelers, very close to Appliance Factory/Mattress Kingdom and inside the Frontier Mall.

In a Camp Kitchen Facebook post found in the Cheyenne Community Connections group, Cheyenne citizens showed varied reactions to the news of this closure.
Several commenters commented raves about Camp Kitchen's cabbage burgers, while other commenters seemed hopeful to see Camp Kitchen return, and at least four commenters suggested the idea of shifting into a food truck. A select few complained of high prices, but on the other hand, many complained that they simply never heard of Camp Kitchen before seeing Camp Kitchen's Facebook post indicating their closure. (If you actively follow Optopolis' BlogSpot page, however, it's possible that you may have already heard of Camp Kitchen.)
Now that the restaurant is closed, the future of the business seems quite uncertain to Optopolis. It's not clear if Camp Kitchen may give it another go at some point or not, but for now, their former mall space is now vacant and available to a future, to-be-determined tenant.

As of the evening of January 23rd, the restaurant storefront could be seen darkened with the gate pulled across the entryway. Signage could still be seen on the space, and a few remnants of Camp Kitchen appeared to have been left inside.
