Recently, Bison Nutrition & Energy, a beverage restaurant located along Vandehei Avenue and Hynds Blvd near I-25, has closed their doors. It's not clear to Optopolis if they may reopen anytime soon.

Previous history and events

The building which includes the former Bison Nutrition & Energy (known as the Vandehei Plaza) was built at approximately the turn of 2005 as confirmed by Google Earth and the Laramie County Property Assessor GIS. It appears that an early occupant of the now-former Bison Nutrition space was Elite Cleaners. Google Maps Street View reveals that Elite Cleaners' signage was posted on the building for more than a decade, and the location was listed on Elite Cleaners' website.

Bison Nutrition & Energy was actively pushing toward opening their own shop as soon as October 19th, 2020, and their business was initially filed with the State of Wyoming on November 10th. On December 16th, they were offering curbside pickup and a "satellite sample station." They later held a soft opening on December 28th, 2020, during which they had a mixture of Basic Shakes and Healthy Energy drinks available.

Announcement of closure of current location

In late December, Bison Nutrition & Energy posted to their Facebook page that they would be closing their current location at the end of the day, Monday December 30th, 2024. Bison Nutrition said that they, "want to thank everyone for all their support."

Signage seen on the door of Bison Nutrition's shop in late December 2024 confirmed these plans of closing their current location. A separate self-standing sign also seen on December 23rd listed products available at the shop which includes but is not limited to energy drinks; fruit smoothies; acai bowls; and protein products including shakes, coffee, balls, waffles, and cake pops.

Someone asked in the comments of Bison Nutrition & Energy's Facebook post if Bison Nutrition may eventually have another location, to which Bison Nutrition responded, "We still have the business and are looking at other options. We will keep everyone posted." One Facebook user suggested the former Railyard space next to Golds Gym, the space that was previously slated for a replacement that never opened.

In a visit made in early January 2025, the space was mostly empty, void of most of the equipment that once was used at Bison Nutrition & Energy. Signs for Bison Nutrition were still displayed on the building, but furnishings and fixtures inside the space had mostly been removed, aside from basic aspects like the sink and ordering counter. At this time, it's not clear to Optopolis if, when, or where Bison Nutrition & Energy may make a return.

Fortunately, there are other health-oriented beverage shops in Cheyenne. For now, where will you go to get your smoothie or energy drink fix? How do you feel about Bison Nutrition closing their doors, and do you want them to reopen at some point? Let us know your thoughts in the comments!
