Wingstop is about to open in Cheyenne!

Image
Wing Stop's sign on the soon-to-be Cheyenne location - Optopolis In early December 2022, it was noticed here at Optopolis that something was happening at the former Starbuck's in the Dell Range Marketplace. Turns out it is going to become a Wingstop! The space's history as Starbuck's The space where Wingstop is set to opening was once a Starbuck's Coffee! Starbuck's was most likely original to its space; the plaza was built in the year 2000; thanks to StarbucksEverywhere.net , one can see that this Starbuck's was open by the year 2001 . LEFT: Closed Starbuck's store front | RIGHT: New Starbuck's location - Optopolis This Starbuck's location closed in 2017 to move to a new location near the corner of Dell Range Blvd and Windmill Rd. They demolished DT's Car Wash for the new drive thru location, which is still open today! Since the shuttering of the old location, the space has remained vacant... that is, until now. Ace Hardware opening another Cheyenne store

Image
"Ace Hardware Coming Soon" - Optopolis Ace Hardware is renovating one of the spaces in the Cheyenne Plaza on E Lincolnway here in Cheyenne, Wyoming. Here's a quick glance at the changes that have already taken place! Ace's history and a glance at the space Ace Hardware began an expansion to Cheyenne in May 2020 when they were actively remodeling what was once the lobby for the Rodeway Inn (built in 1963 according to the property assessor) off of I-25. If you were here in the mid-2000s, you may recall that the Rodeway Inn was then-called Capitol Inn. Simultaneously, the rooms behind the lobby that once made up a crucial part of Rodeway Inn were being demolished for a new four-story hotel called Comfort Suites. By or before the time 2021 rolled around, Ace Hardware had already opened the new store. Party America has moved. It's not closed!

Image
Party America sign as seen on the facade of the previous Cheyenne Plaza location - Optopolis After many years at the old location, Cheyenne's Party America store has moved to a new location! It is still in the same vicinity, but in a new space. A glance at the history According to the property assessor, the building which housed the previous location of Party America (not to be confused with an unaffiliated brand known as Party City) was built in 1983. Party America's previous location as seen in 2020 - Optopolis Permits available in the Cheyenne City Planning website indicate that Party America had presence at the location since at least 2010 (signage permits were submitted early that year), and their Facebook page has also been active since 2010. At this time, it's not entirely clear here at Optopolis what (if anything) was in the space before Party America. One can find a reasonable amount of photos of this space on their Facebook page, such as this photo . They announ

Scooter's Coffee is coming after all (to Cheyenne)

Image
Scooter's Coffee coming soon! sign stands at soon-to-be-Scooter's - Optopolis Scooter's Coffee is actively in the works of building their first Cheyenne location on the south end of town! Here's where on South Greeley Hwy and the current status of the site! (plus an update as of May 24th!) A glance into the history Scooter's Coffee, not to be confused with Scooter's Bar and Packaged Liquor, was originally planning to build a location near the corner of Dell Range Blvd and N College Dr next to the Dell Range Pediatrics building; plans were submitted back in mid-2021 to the Cheyenne City Planning website. However, nothing coalesced at that location, and all the permits listed in the website have long since expired including the "Restaurant/Bars New" building permit that expired in January 2023. Starting mid-2022, permits began appearing in the Laramie County Planning website for a new Scooter's Coffee on the other end of town at what was then one of

Dog Haus Biergarten Closes Permanently (for now)

Image
Dog Haus Biergarten sign remains intact day after closing - Optopolis Previously, a local news outlet reported that Dog Haus Biergarten in Cheyenne, Wyoming has closed permanently, and sadly, this appears to be entirely true. History: Cheyenne's Dog Haus and a glance at Pershing MarketPlace Many years ago, it was reported here on Optopolis that the Pershing MarketPlace (the outdoor plaza where Dog Haus previously operated) was being built on the corner of E Pershing Blvd and N College Dr. There once stood a house in part of this location that was boarded up as of 2011. One would often also be able to see construction equipment on the part of the land along McCann Ave. TOP: Boarded up house in 2011 | BOTTOM: Construction Equipment off of McCann - Google Maps Street View In 2018, construction began on what would include Dog Haus Biergarten; Cheyenne's Dog Haus would open their doors to the public for the first time at the end of January 2020, having their first "Free Haus D

Appliance Factory is coming to former Dillard's!

Image
Appliance Factory Opening Soon sign at Fort Collins' new location (moving text blurred to avoid any confusion) - Optopolis During 2020, Dillard's condensed their store floor down to just the east Dillard's building at the Frontier Mall, leaving the west Dillard's vacant. That is... until recently; Appliance Factory/Mattress Kingdom is opening their first Cheyenne store! History This space was one of the earlier anchor stores to the Frontier Mall, originally housing a J-Joslins Department store, a Colorado-based clothing store. It was being built in 1982 as confirmed by photos stored in the Wyoming State Archives; the Laramie County Property Assessor notes that it was built in 1983. Mall entry to Dillard's when Dillard's was open - Optopolis About fifteen years later in 1998, Dillard's bought out the J-Joslins chain (building Dillard's east not long before). This would result in one of many situations where the store floor was separated between two spaces

Daily Thread has opened at frmr C&B at Frontier Mall

Image
Daily Thread signage above entry to the new store - Optopolis Daily Thread, a clothing store that sells women's clothing, previously began cleaning up a space at the Frontier Mall for their first Cheyenne location, and it's now open! C&B History in Cheyenne Most recently and as long as is known here at Optopolis, space 88 in the Frontier Mall was occupied by Christopher and Banks. Many will likely recall when C&B used to also have a second store front next to Pet City called CJ Banks. Back then, Christopher and Banks focused more on the broader women audience as a whole, while CJ Banks focused more on larger women's sizes. CJ Banks when it was still open - Paul Chubbuck via Google Maps They decided to condense to just the Christopher and Banks store floor many years ago. The CJ Banks location has even already been long since replaced by Bumper's Arcade and (before that, Patio Splash, now located in part of the former mini golf place). Unfortunately, at the start
