Spice Zone Indian Restaurant is replacing Dynasty Cafe!

Spice Zone Indian Restaurant banner sign posted onto former Dynasty Cafe, seen in late 2023 - Optopolis

A new sign has appeared on the facade of the former Dynasty Cafe, with the name of Spice Zone Indian Restaurant. The new restaurant is opening tomorrow!

A glimpse of history: City Cafe/Dynasty Cafe

The Laramie County Property Assessor notes that the building was built in 1973. As of the years 1977 and 1979, a restaurant called City Cafe Oriental & American Dinners was present in the building. Fast forward to the early 2000s, Dynasty Cafe Chinese and Vietnamese would set up their business name in 2002 as is noted in the Wyoming Business Filing Search.

In 2019, a family member would take over owning the restaurant due to the previous owner passing away. Around October 2021, the restaurant closed with plans to remodel, planning to reopen on October 25th, 2021. Unfortunately, that never ended up happening, with the building eventually being listed for sale.

As seen in the video embedded above, the space was still vacant as of June 2023 with no sign of Dynasty Cafe returning anytime soon.

Spice Zone Indian Restaurant sets up shop

Sometime over the last three months of 2023, a sign had been added to the front of the former Dynasty Cafe, displaying the name Spice Zone Indian Restaurant. This was first discovered here at Optopolis during the week of Thanksgiving 2023.

At the time of the discovery, it wasn't clear what was actually happening, but now, there are more details. Spice Zone just shared to their Facebook page and their website that they are opening on February 15th, 2024.

The menu on their website displays all kinds of different eats to choose from, including chicken, lamb, seafood, and more. For appetizers, one can also get chicken, soup, shrimp, vegetables, or dumplings (called Momo).

This is what's happening right now! (and their hours)

According to workers present at the restaurant tonight (Feb 14th), they will be doing only to-go orders at the start. According to the restaurant on Saturday, February 17th, they have opened up the dining room; the dining room opened on their second day.

As of the time of writing, their hours are set to be 9 AM to 11 PM everyday except for Tuesdays; they are closed on Tuesdays. You can currently call in for to-go service; starting sometime over the week of February 18th, they plan to also begin offering their food through Door Dash.

For reference, this business is located at 600 West 19th Street, across the street from Black Tooth Brewery.
