Take 5 Oil Change is coming to Cheyenne

Many months ago, permits were submitted for a new Take 5 location here in Cheyenne, but the land referenced by the permits was not being touched... that is until now.

What is Take 5?

Based on their website, Take 5 appears to be an automotive company that focuses on both oil changes and car washes. Their about page proclaims quick, efficient service, stating, "We are not fans of wasting time. So we make sure you’re not using too much of yours getting your oil changed or car washed."

As of the time of writing, Take 5's locator lists many locations across the United States, but none are listed for Wyoming. The nearest locations to Cheyenne are in northern Colorado, including an Oil Change location in Loveland and a Car Wash location in Brighton.

About a year ago now in early May 2022, an Engineering Project Review was submitted to the Cheyenne City Planning website under the Projects tab. Between May 2022 and July 2022, three other project items were also submitted including a Board Approval, a Site Plan, and an Administrative Adjustment; a permit was even submitted in June under the Permits tab.

For many months, the lot for which they had submitted all these plans was sitting untouched... until recently, as mentioned previously in this article.

A black construction barrier was previously placed around the property sometime over the last couple or three weeks, and one can now see construction equipment and a pile of dirt all sitting in the grassy field that makes up the vacant land.

Diving into the nitty gritty, the plans indicate that there will be eight parking spaces placed behind of the building; entryways/exit ways to the facility will be connected to the existing entryway and parking lot for Sonic (this will remove about four or five parking spots from Sonic's east edge depending on how Sonic paints the lines with the new layout).

Doing some basic math, the plans indicate that be building will have an area of approximately 1,435 sqr feet, and the building will feature three different bays for servicing cars. A retaining wall is set to be built along the east edge of the property between Take 5 and the neighboring Bicycle Station store to deal with the rather steep gradient of land between Sonic and Bicycle Station.

Update 08/10 - Retaining wall goes in, more to come!

If you've passed by the area recently, you may have noticed that a retaining wall has been added mainly along the east edge of the property obviously in an effort to deal with the slope of the land at that location.

Markers were recently painted in as well that appear to denote roughly where future curbing is expected to soon be placed. The markers confirmed that there will be five parking spots removed next to Sonic, five spaces which don't seem to be occupied very often.

About the only space left along this section of Dell Range Blvd is the land that makes up approximately one or two outlots-worth of land in front of Menard's; what would you like to see take up the remaining space long this block of Dell Range? Let us know in the comments!

A note from Optopolis:

I've gone back and updated several articles with new information, including but not limited to the articles covering the new cafe, Clean Eats; Cheyenne's 2nd Ace Hardware; Wingstop opening; Bed Bath and Beyond closing; and others. In some cases where there is already an existing article on a topic, I am choosing to update the old article instead of wasting time and space with a new article when the new information only requires a sentence or two, or maybe a few at the most. I will still create new articles as I deem necessary.
