Previously, it was reported that the Boyd Building would be raising the highest flying flag in Cheyenne for the first time in over a decade. East High's Marching Band was present playing some tunes for the event as well!
A glance at history and recent events
The Boyd Building was once known as the Citizen's Bank building. It was built around the year 1912; the bank closed in the early 20s. Not long after, Boyd Hubert bought the building and renamed it to the Boyd Building in the process.
At the time that it was built, the Citizens Bank building was the tallest building in Cheyenne although these days, numerous buildings beat it in height including the neighboring Firstier Bank building.
Previously, Cheyenne City Drug and Mercantile as well as The Boardroom Cheyenne both worked to open up shop in the ground floor portion of the building.

As shared by The Cheyenne Post, other existing tenants of the building include Hirst Applegate, LLP; The Salisbury Firm, P.C.; PFM Asset Management; RLR Certified Public Accountants; Law Office of John Knepper; RMI - Destination Marketing Firm; and Wyoming Downs, LLC.
Raising the flag for the first time in over a decade
Although the Boyd Building is certainly no longer the tallest building in Cheyenne, it reportedly still holds the highest flying flag in city. As mentioned by The Cheyenne Post, there were recently plans in place to raise the flag on the top of the building for the first time in 15 years.

Chances are if you were in Downtown Cheyenne in the morning of Monday, June 26th, you heard the East High Marching Band playing some musical tunes. Starting around 9:00 AM, the flag raising event began just outside of the Boyd Building along Carey Avenue.
Initially, those attending the event were encouraged to stand just outside of The Boardroom and City Drug, during which the band played numerous pieces of music. Around 9:30 AM, the crowd was moved across the street to view the flag being raised, at which point the US national anthem, The Star Spangled Banner was played.
Various videos can be found of the event including one posted by Tristin Cloward (@tclow.mp4) via Instagram as well as here at Optopolis on the Optopolis Extra YouTube Channel (as seen embedded above).
