New clothing shop, La mekicana, opened at Frontier Mall

La Mekicana is now open at the Frontier Mall! - Optopolis

A new western-themed clothing shop, La Mekicana LLC, opened yesterday at Frontier Mall! They offer everything from boots and men's western wear to quinceañera and prom dresses!

Historical perspective: Christopher & Banks/Daily Thread

La Mekicana's space was most recently "permanently" occupied by Daily Thread. Daily Thread opened in late February 2023; a few months later after a rapid expansion throughout the United States, many Daily Thread locations permanently closed including the Cheyenne location.

Throughout the 2000s and prior to Daily Thread, space 88 was occupied by Christopher & Banks, but Christopher & Banks closed on February 27th, 2021 due to their bankruptcy. It is known here at Optopolis that Christopher & Banks wasn't the original tenant of this space although other previous tenants of this space haven't been confirmed here at Optopolis.

La Mekicana LLC announced to open at Frontier Mall, opens

Back at the start of April 2024, Wyoming Tribune Eagle shared that several new businesses were coming to the Frontier Mall, and one of the businesses listed was La Mekicana, LLC. Since at least early March 2024, "coming soon" signs for La Mekicana were posted in the former Daily Thread store front.

Around May 2nd, a separate "coming soon" sign (seen at the top of this article) could be seen just outside of La Mekicana's soon-to-be new space, and a new, small electronic LED sign had already been installed above the entry to the store (although it wasn't yet lit).

It turns out that, according to Julian (the owner of La Mekicana LLC), the Cheyenne store is their third location; the other two are located in Greeley (both in Greeley Mall). One used to be called "Green Magic" but has since shifted away from that branding, and the other is in the previous location of Greeley Mall's Bath & Body Works (as seen on the La Mekicana Facebook Page).

Cheyenne's La Mekicana opened for the first time yesterday morning. Upon first walking into the store, one may immediately notice the variety of boots, and cowboy and cowgirl hats available. In addition, they have western-themed belts and belt buckles as well. But they have more than just hats, boots, and belts!

Near the checkout counter, they have dressier men's clothing, and along the back wall, they have women's dresses in addition to the jeans that could be seen throughout the store. Oh, and did you notice the dresses on display in the windows?

La Mekicana LLC was hoping to open the Cheyenne store last weekend, but the store just wasn't quite ready yet. However, as mentioned, the store was able to open yesterday, March 10th! Julian mentioned that their store hours are as follows:

  • Weekdays 10 AM to 8 PM
  • Saturdays 1 PM to 2 PM
  • Sundays 12 PM to 6 PM

Dutch Bros Coffee is coming to Cheyenne (for real)

Old Chicago closes Cheyenne restaurant!

Cheyenne's Old Chicago Pizza and Taproom permanently closed yesterday evening, at least an hour before their normal closing time of 10 PM on Sundays. They brag about their "tavern thin and classic thick crust pizzas" and their "110 local and legendary beers."
