Cheyenne's Daily Thread is closed after less than a year.
Daily Thread Cheyenne two days after planned closing date - Optopolis |
If you've been following along, you'll recall that Cheyenne used to have a Christopher & Banks which closed following their bankruptcy filing. Daily Thread took over the Cheyenne C&B space earlier this year, but now it's gone and likely not coming back anytime soon.
A touch on recent events
Space 88 in the Frontier Mall was previously home to Christopher & Banks. Many years ago, the mall also had a CJ Banks, but that closed long ago-long before C&B closed; that space has already been replaced by Bumpers Arcade which previously relocated to the old DEB space.
At the turn of 2021, Christopher & Banks filed for bankruptcy, announcing that all their stores would close for good. The Cheyenne store had their final day on February 27th, 2021.

A while after being acquired, Christopher & Banks began reopening stores in midwest/eastern states (with no obvious signs of reopening in Cheyenne anytime soon). It turns out that the then-new parent company, iMedia Brands, filed for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy earlier this year.
IV Media previously acquired the brand in August. Although the list of stores isn't currently visible on their website, a comment from the official Christopher and Banks Facebook page on one of their posts confirmed that at least a few of the stores are still open.

Meanwhile, around the turn of 2023, a different clothing store that mainly caters to women (called Daily Thread) was in the process of opening in Cheyenne's former Christopher and Banks space. According to workers present just a few days after opening, their first day open was February 24th.
This wasn't the first Christopher & Banks location in which Daily Thread opened a store, but it was the first time the brand opened a Cheyenne location.

Some Daily Thread locations begin to close, including Cheyenne
Unfortunately, over the last year, many Daily Thread locations have been closing up shop including but not limited to Des Moines, IA (Merle Hay Mall); Lancaster, PA (Park City Center); Hagerstown, MD (Hagerstown Premium Outlets); and (of course) Cheyenne, WY (Frontier Mall).
According to a clip posted to the Cheyenne store's TikTok page, the Cheyenne location was planning to close on October 22nd. As of October 24th, the store had signs indicating the closure was temporary although the inside had already been mostly emptied out and the gate was closed.

On a visit on the 25th, housever, the signage had been changed to say, "Daily Thread has permanently closed," meanwhile someone who had purchased some fixtures was waiting outside of the store to pick up the fixtures.
A for sale sign posted in the window indicated what they had left (at the time) in terms of fixtures for sale including a ladder, mannequin legs, wall hardware, shelves, and other things. By October 26th, Daily Thread's signage had been taken down, leaving the space dark and empty.

Did you have a chance to visit Cheyenne's Daily Thread? What did you think of their store-did you prefer it over Christopher & Banks? Let us know your thoughts of this closure in the comments, and what you'd like to see replace Daily Thread.
On a side note--Sadly, this isn't the first time in recent years that Cheyenne has had a
rather short-lived business that lasted less than a year; for instance,
look at Sears Hometown or Church's Chicken, both of which lasted less than a year before closing.

Updated 11/13/2023 at 6:39 PM MT to adjust a sentence's position in the text; it should be clear that Sears Hometown and Church's Chicken did not cause the Daily Thread to close; this is merely an acknowledgement that all three were open for less than a year.
