Optopolis' Frequently Asked Questions

What is Optopolis? How can I contact Optopolis?

Optopolis is about documenting and sharing retail places and their history. Learn More...

For the latest on how to contact Optopolis, please see the contact section, currently found on the About page.

Where is Optopolis located?

Optopolis is based out of Cheyenne, Wyoming, USA. Here on BlogSpot, most topics will also relate to Cheyenne, but Optopolis does venture beyond city and state boundaries from time to time.

Why hasn't [insert business/place] been featured yet here on Optopolis?

There are many factors that may affect why Optopolis hasn't (yet) discussed a particular topic, including but not limited to the amount of current events happening at a particular time, the timeliness of an event, circumstances that simply prevent Optopolis from discussing a topic, among other challenges.

As a result, Optopolis prioritizes places and topics which he finds interesting or otherwise appealing, then covers other topics as is possible and reasonable. Other factors listed in the next Q&A (see "Can [insert business/topic] be featured..." below) can also affect whether Optopolis covers a topic.

However, it's also possible Optopolis just hasn't gotten to covering a particular topic yet--or even, hasn't yet discovered the topic (see "how can a business or place get featured on Optopolis" below).

Can [insert business/topic] be featured on Optopolis' BlogSpot page?

Generally, most retail-related topics can be featured as long as it's timely (typically, the opening or closing event/incident needs to be less than a year old). Here on the BlogSpot page, topics usually need to be in Cheyenne, Wyoming or within 15 miles of Cheyenne city limits in order to be discussed (with rare exceptions.)

Although Optopolis does prefer to emphasize mostly positive topics, store-closing and building-demolition topics are about the most negative articles one may find on Optopolis, generally speaking.

Optopolis wants to keep this blog family-friendly. As such, topics which revolve primarily and predominantly around smoking, drinking, drugs; gambling; and other significantly edgy, and/or age 18+ or 21+ activities typically won't make the cut for a dedicated blog-article with rare exceptions.

How can a business or place get featured on Optopolis?

Typically, Optopolis likes to find out about things happening on his own by stumbling across them, whether it's scrolling upon a social media post or website, or noticing it when passing through a particular area--or even learning through word of mouth. However!

While Optopolis cannot guarantee coverage of a particular place, you can anonymously share business(es)/topic(s)/idea(s) you want featured by submitting this Google form (no sign-in necessary). Note that if the topic is greater than one year old, it's highly unlikely Optopolis will make a dedicated article on the topic.

I found incorrect information in an Optopolis article or would like to elaborate. Can an article be updated?

Yes, an Optopolis article can absolutely be updated with more specific details and/or corrections! (See how to contact at the top of this page.) Optopolis wants to share the most accurate and true story of places as possible; getting the facts straight is essential in an effort to provide accurate documentation and historical record.

If new details on a particular topic emerge after an article has been published and the article has been published during the current, on-going year, the existing article typically will be updated instead of creating a new article with some exceptions (i.e. if a business opens in January then suddenly and unexpectedly closes in August of the same year, a separate article will likely be created).

However, if an older article from a previous year needs corrected or has other issues, action will be taken as is deemed necessary by Optopolis to update those older articles.
