Remodel of Arby's Yellowstone Rd continues

Last year, Arby's on Yellowstone Rd was in the process of starting to remodel the store, and now in May 2024, they are actively continuing the remodel, particularly in the dining room. As such, the dining room is temporarily closed.

Recent events and a history refresh

As previously discussed, the building where this Arby's resides dates back to approximately 1996, and the building was noted to have had a small add-on to the front in 2003, all according to the property assessor.

Around November 2023, initial remodel was underway. Work at the time mainly included taking down the old Arby's signage on the building; repainting the building to the red, white, and brown color scheme; and repairing/rebuilding the sidewalk and gutter along Yellowstone Road.

In late 2023, this Arby's was repainted. At the time this photo was taken, work on the sidewalk, curbs, gutters, and part of the parking lot was underway. - Optopolis

The dining room was temporarily closed at the time, but it was later reopened, and further work on the building wasn't obviously happening until recently.

Dining room closed for remodel, new signs to be installed

In a pass by the restaurant last week (week of May 5), it was discovered here at Optopolis that the dining room had closed once again and significant remodel work was underway. Several signs in the windows in addition to the standalone sign's Readerboard indicated that the drive thru is still open during construction.

One doesn't even need to go up to the windows to see various equipment and materials inside the dining room; the food preparation area is also visibly shielded off from the work area.

According to project files within the signage permit in the Cheyenne city planning website, several new signs and other objects are set to be installed around the Arby's. Among the highlights, these changes include:

  • 60-inch "Hanging Carousel 'A'" above the main dining room entry doors
  • Current Arby's lettering on three sides of the building (north, west, and east sides)
  • Drive-Thru canopy above the drive thru window (already installed)
  • "DT Break Away Canopy" at the drive thru order speaker behind the building
  • New self-standing logo sign that by itself is just under 100 inches (compared to the current 125" tall sign that uses an older hat logo).
  • Replacing the faces of the small pylon signs on the edge of Yellowstone Rd directing drivers in and out of the parking lot
This standalone logo measures about 125" tall not including the metal mounting bracket. The new sign will measure approximately/just under 100 inches tall not including the mounting bracket. The Readerboard faces are slated to also be swapped out. - Optopolis

In addition to all the stuff listed above, the small pylon sign somewhat hidden near the southwest corner of the property (the one that said "Breakfast" on it, or "drive thru" depending on which side you saw) has also since been removed.

Upon contacting the Arby's on Yellowstone Road, workers revealed that the dining room likely won't reopen until around the start of June although it's safe to say there is not a guaranteed date to reopen just yet. According to one worker, they are expecting to reopen on June 1st (though, once you've seen enough remodels/rebuilds, you know that opening day may shift depending on the circumstances).

Once the remodel is complete, only one Cheyenne Arby's will remain that hasn't been modernized in the context of the 2020s. The first of the current three Cheyenne Arby's was remodeled in 2022. This also follows a remodel that occurred next door to Arby's, at Pizza Hut (which has since reopened).

Do you like the new red/white/brown color scheme, or do you prefer the older red and beige color scheme? Let us know any of your thoughts of the remodel in the comments!
