Cookie chain Dirty Dough and nail salon We Do Nails are anticipated to open in a new building that recently broke ground at Pershing MarketPlace along North College Drive and East Pershing Boulevard.

Recent events with Pershing MarketPlace

Around the end of the 2010s, new businesses were being built at the site of the soon-to-be Pershing MarketPlace, including a second QDOBA, Dog Haus, a second DazBog Coffee, and various other businesses. Since 2019, a number of new businesses have opened in Pershing MarketPlace including but not limited to North Platte Physical Therapy (moved here), Pizza Hut (moved here), Verizon (moved here), Firehouse Subs (New Business), and Cheyenne Pack & Ship (New Business).

The Verizon dealer/shop closed and was later taken over by AT&T. Dog Haus Biergarten closed and has since reopened under new ownership. However, recently, the Cheyenne Dog Haus has been facing some scrutiny regarding allegations of not paying their workers correctly, and they are currently undergoing a lawsuit. All the other businesses that opened in Pershing MarketPlace are still open to this day. Also, across the street from Jimmy John's and just outside of Pershing MarketPlace, a new coffee shop known as Dutch Bros Coffee has opened.

New building being built

In mid-June 2024, two permits were submitted to the Cheyenne Planning and Permits website; one is a Building Permit, and the other is a Core & Shell permit. These permits confirm that the new building will contain two tenants--a nail salon (northern space) and a bakery (southern space). On September 30th, Core Concrete LLC posted that they were set to pour some concrete; this came just four days after they posted a photo showing that the framework for the foundation was being put in place.

Permits indicate that the building will use somewhat similar aesthetics to other nearby buildings in Pershing MarketPlace. Similar to other shops in Pershing MarketPlace, this new building is anticipated to have better accessibility for pedestrians to access the new businesses. Once this new multi-tenant building is complete, approximately one vacant lot of the plaza will remain.

Bakery - Dirty Dough Cookies

The "bakery" has been identified to be a cookie shop known as Dirty Dough. This chain has locations in twenty three states.* In addition to Wyoming, they are currently expanding to the states of Alabama, Idaho, New Mexico, and South Dakota.

Their new Cheyenne store will be their first Wyoming location. Studying their Facebook page, Dirty Dough is relatively comparable to Crumbl Cookies, an otherwise-unrelated cookie chain that already has a location at Frontier Mall. However, according to their Nutrition page, Dirty Dough has two "weekly" cookies along with six others listed under "The Classics;" this is unlike Crumbl, which typically has five cookies that change on a weekly basis, and only one (chocolate chip) that stays the same each week.

Currently, Cheyenne has very few cookie shops; there are approximately two, Crumbl and Mary's Mountain. Since approximately late 2020, Fort Collins' Eileen's Cookies has been driving their van/food truck up to Cheyenne roughly once per week on Fridays, typically setting up at Bicycle Station. There are other Cheyenne businesses that offer cookies, but most of those (i.e. including Bread Basket and Subway) have a core focus on other products (i.e. bread or sandwiches).

Nail salon - We Do Nails Salon

A sign posted at the Pershing MarketPlace identifies the nail salon. It will be called "We Do Nails Salon." Doing a quick Google search reveals no businesses with that name. Here at Optopolis, not much is currently known about this new nail salon, but it is planned to open in the northern-most space of the new building.

*Dirty Dough Cookies has locations in the states of Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, and Utah.

Great article once again! When listing cookie shops, don't forget that we have Mary's Mountain Cookies! They often support our school district, too.
