Mobil 1 Car Care just opened a Cheyenne location

A Mobil 1 Car Care has just opened in Cheyenne, located at the corner of Westland Rd and W Lincolnway. Here's a glance at the building history and the new Mobil 1 Car Care.

Some history on the building

The building that stands on the northeast corner of Westland Rd and W Lincolnway is noted in the Laramie County Property Assessor as being built in 2006. Since at least that time, Halladay Subaru was present in the building (at least until recently).

Digging into satellite imagery from Google Earth, the 1994 imagery reveals that there was some other building before the existing one. Parked around the old building in the parking lot is, you guessed it, loads of motorized vehicles.

At this time, it's not entirely clear here at Optopolis the details of the earlier history behind the property. However, an article from The Cheyenne Post mentions that, "[In 2005, Halladay] purchased the Subaru franchise from Dinneen Motors. A new building was completed in November 2006 at the corner of Westland Road and West Lincolnway."

Fast forward to 2022, Halladay Motors Subaru relocated down the street to a brand new building on a different parcel of land, still located along Westland Rd. That left the old Subaru location vacant (until recently).

By August 2023, it was clear something was happening at the site of the former Subaru dealer because a huge dumpster was placed out front in the parking lot, a type of dumpster which is frequently used when a place is about to begin some kind of construction.

Mobil 1 Car Care opens up shop

By mid-October 2023, Mobil 1 Car Care had signage going up on and around the building, confirming that they were indeed setting up shop at the location.

Mobil has multiple different aspects to their brand including a name-brand oil, Exxon/Esso Mobil, and Mobil 1 Lube Express. According to Mobil's "oil change near me" page, most of the current locations near Cheyenne involve other businesses like either one of Cheyenne's Walmart stores or this Grease Monkey in Fort Collins, Colorado.

The Cheyenne location opened sometime over the last month (later than November 7, 2023). Mobil's locations page does note the location on Westland Rd as "Mobil 1 Car Care Halladay," although the store itself only currently displays Mobil 1's branding on the exterior.

Unfortunately, the Mobil website doesn't appear to display the hours for the Cheyenne location. Google Maps displays hours of 8 AM to 6 PM on Monday through Friday, closed on Saturday and Sunday. (Side notes: The Cheyenne Mobil 1 Car Care Halladay is not to be confused with a Mobil 1 Lube Express located in Illinois that uses the URL, mobile1lube.net. Also, the Cheyenne store is not listed on Mobil's "near me" page when the Mobil 1 Lube Express filter is selected.)

Dutch Bros Coffee is coming to Cheyenne (for real)

Old Chicago closes Cheyenne restaurant!

Cheyenne's Old Chicago Pizza and Taproom permanently closed yesterday evening, at least an hour before their normal closing time of 10 PM on Sundays.
