Michoacan A Pedir De Boca about to open -- Ice Cream shop at Frontier Mall

Michoacan A Pedir De Boca, a Mexican ice cream shop, is set to softly open Saturday afternoon (July 13th) at the Frontier Mall, and they plan to have their grand opening later this month!

Recent events

It was discovered here at Optopolis during the first week of April 2024 that Michoacan A Pedir De Boca, a chain of Mexican ice cream shops, was looking to open a location at the Frontier Mall. Specifically, they chose Space#24, the location in the mall most recently occupied by a cafe (that once was occupied by Subway) located in the food court.

Many tenants have occupied the space since Subway closed including Na Café Coffee Shop, The Galaxy Cafe, Enchanted Bean, and Forge Cafe. A worker at Bourbon Street Candy Co mentioned that their candy shop briefly occupied the former Subway, as well, before moving next door to the then-Sports Authority.

The storefront already had been painted as of April 23rd. To the right of this space is the former AMC Theatre, and the space to the left is Sweetwraps Western Gifts. - Optopolis

By the end of April, the space was already beginning to see some changes including a new paint job on the store front. It took until around the end of June for the work to mostly be completed on the new ice cream shop.

Although there is some population in Cheyenne that is really familiar with Spanish, there are also many that may not even know how to speak Spanish, and therefore may be interested in pronouncing the name of this establishment correctly. In the video below posted to the Optopolis YouTube channel, you can find out how one who can speak Spanish would most likely pronounce the name, Michoacan A Pedir De Boca.

Opening day and grand opening announced

On Thursday, July 4th, the Cheyenne Michoacan A Pedir De Boca posted on their individual Facebook page that they are planning to have their Grand Opening on July 20th, starting at 10 AM. Anyone who follows brick and mortar retail news will likely realize that many businesses softly open before the grand opening, however.

As such and to no surprise here at Optopolis, on Tuesday, July 9th, they posted again, but this time, they stated that they will be having a soft opening on Saturday, July 13th from 1 PM to 6 PM. That's this upcoming Saturday, two days away as of the time of publishing this article.

Just one day earlier on July 8th, they posted a photo of their menu, embedded below. They'll have popsicles, fresh fruit water, ice cream, chips, mangonadas, corn, and other products available. Normal store hours haven't yet been posted as of the time of writing, but typically, stores on the interior of the Frontier Mall tend operate during the same hours as the mall.

This isn't the first Mexican-themed shop to open at Frontier Mall. Two others recently opened including a candy shop called Dulces Cuh, and a clothing shop called La Mekicana.

Update 07-13 - Expected to be closed until grand opening next Saturday

If you kept up on the Dutch Bros Coffee story, you'll know that Dutch Bros Coffee softly opened for an afternoon then closed until their grand opening day. Likewise starting tomorrow, Michoacan A Pedir De Boca plans to mostly remain closed until next Saturday during their Grand Opening. (UPDATE 07-16: However, the owners mentioned that the store may occasionally be open for periods throughout the week, and that includes 2 PM to 6 PM on Tuesday, July 16th and Thursday, July 18th.)

Within the span of about 15 minutes leading up to 1 PM (opening hour), visitors were lined nearly out the door at Michoacan A Pedir De Boca, and people were still coming in as of 2 PM. - Optopolis

After that, according to the family that owns this location, the shop intends to have hours roughly the same as the Frontier Mall. If they end up going for shorter operating hours than the mall, this article should be updated to reflect such information. Alternatively, you can just find their hours on Frontier Mall's website once the hours have been posted.

Now that Frontier Mall will once again have an ice cream shop, what other stores or restaurants would you like to see make their way into the mall? Should it be more local brands, or larger chains? Let us know your thoughts in the comments!
