Ziggi's Coffee on East Pershing Boulevard has just announced they are opening in four days--Friday, March 8th, 2024--and it features both a walk-up window and two drive-thru windows.

Historical Aspect: The new location

Starting back around the year 1973 (as noted in the 1973 City Directory), a gas station called Highway Oil Inc was present at the corner of Morrie Avenue and East Pershing Boulevard. Between 1994 and 1995, the city directory listing would change to list HY-WAY Incorporated at the location.

Sometime between 1997 and 2007, Stag Oil Co would take over and rebrand the station, closing in the early 2010s as noted in a previous article on this topic. It was demolished and sat vacant for many years, occasionally being used by Wyo Snow Co's food truck.

In late 2022, the trees, some of the sidewalk, and the parking lot lighting fixtures on and surrounding the property were demolished. In July 2023, ground had officially been broken to begin laying the foundation for the new Ziggi's Coffee.

By August 2023, the frame of the building had already been constructed. As of the end of December, the exterior was nearly finished, concrete for the sidewalks had been poured, and a coming soon sign stood in front of the location.

At the end of January 2024, one could see signage had been installed on the building and picnic tables were already on scene, only needing to be moved to their intended location next to the building.

This all follows two other Ziggi's Coffee locations that previously opened in Cheyenne, Yellowstone Road in August 2021 and Thomes Avenue in February 2023. There is currently an early project item indicating a possible fourth location on W Lincolnway which, according to the Cheyenne Planning ArcGIS map, is still awaiting approval.

Ziggi's announces opening day

Yesterday, Ziggi's Coffee on East Pershing Boulevard posted to their Facebook page that they will be opening in five days, stating that the location opens on Friday, March 8th.

As it stands as of yesterday afternoon, the three picnic tables are set up near the walk-up window, and the speakers are also in place. There are seven parking spots for cars and three bike racks that could easily store up to six bicycles at a time.

It appears one clearance indicator post still needs installed, and the menu still needs to be added to the menu boards in the drive thru. However, there are various bits of product info displayed in the drive thru windows.

Their store hours are set to be Monday thru Friday at 5:00 AM - 7:00 PM and Saturday thru Sunday at 6:00 AM - 7:00 PM. The store is located at 1000 East Pershing Boulevard, at the corner of Airport Parkway.

Update 3/10: Grand Opening on the 16th!

The store opened on March 8th, and they just announced on their Facebook page that they'll have a grand opening on March 16th. That's a Saturday. It'll happen between 10 AM and 2 PM.

According to their event page, you can pick up a free 16 ounce drink of your choice, stating that the special is limited to one free drink per customer and it can't be combined with any other special offer or discount and excludes mobile app orders.

It's probably fair to ask a more realistic question here--How many more Ziggi's Coffee locations do you think Cheyenne will get? Do you think they will soon out-number Starbucks Coffee's storefronts in the capital city? Let us know your thoughts in the comments!
