Cheyenne to get a third Ziggi's Coffee

If you have passed by the intersection of E Pershing Blvd and Airport Pkwy/Morrie Ave recently, you may have noticed some construction going on just behind the bus stop. It appears plans are in place for a third Ziggi's in the capitol city!

A glance at the history

Previously, the currently vacant land on the corner of E Pershing Blvd and Airport Pkwy (also Morrie Ave) was home to Stag Oil Co. Stag also had a station called Stag Convenience Corner on Yellowstone Rd (as can be seen in the abandoned video from 2022).

Stag Oil Co was present at this location since at least the 2000's. The E Pershing Blvd location continued to operate until at least September 2011 as confirmed by Google Maps Street View.

In December 2014, permits were submitted to the Cheyenne Planning Website (noting the property owner, Stag Inc.) for demolition of the building and awning. By the end of the following year, the building was demolished.

In 2016, plans were put in place (as seen in the projects section of the Cheyenne Planning Website) to build a Legend Drug (signage seen in the elevation views note it would be named Legend Pharmacy). However, the building never came to fruition.

For a brief period including during 2021, Wyo Snow Co, a shaved-ice trailer, set up shop at the former gas station, as can be seen in various photos from 2021 including the one pictured above.

Fast-forward to November 2022, and one could see that much of the side walk had been removed in addition to the trees lining the soon-to-be extension of Braun Dr.

Cheyenne's third Ziggi's begins to come to fruition

In July 2022 just days before permits were submitted for Cheyenne's second Ziggi's (which is now open), permits were submitted for a Ziggi's Coffee at the corner of E Pershing Blvd and Airport Pkwy.

As mentioned, remnants of the station were removed in late 2022 including the trees, sidewalk, and parking lot lighting fixtures. Now in July 2023, the ground has been broken to begin making way for the new Ziggi's building.

Diving into the nitty gritty of the permits, site plans and elevation views indicate that the building will take just over 620 square feet of the land.

It will not have an indoor dining area like the Thomes avenue location has, but it is set to have two drive thrus and a walk-up window unlike the Yellowstone location which only has a single drive thru.

The site plans also indicate that Braun Drive, the narrow street behind of Dairy Queen, is also set to be extended to attach to Airport Pkwy. The entry and exit to each of the two drive thrus are set to be connected to Braun Drive.

Interestingly, the new location (1000 E Pershing Blvd) is already listed on Ziggi's website; the location can be found in both their locater page and in their site map.

Currently (as of the time of the first update to the article), one can see that the foundational work for both the building and the trash areas all has already taken place.

Since the time of initial coverage, the building is quickly nearing completion with walls already going up on the exterior of the frame. A marker has already been added to Google Maps. At this time, there does not appear to be confirmation of when the location is expected to open.

What do you think of Ziggi's opening a third location? Do you feel like this location will be more convenient to those who are not located closer to the existing two locations? Let us know your thoughts in the comments!

This is Cheyenne. We need an abundance of coffee. If a business can survive in Cheyenne why would anyone object.
