CHEYENNE - The gates at Cheyenne's Dulces Cuh Mexican Candy Store, located in Frontier Mall, are shuttered, and it doesn't appear at this time that they are coming back. This follows Bourbon Street's closure earlier this year.
A quick look at the history
Almost two years ago, it was reported here at Optopolis in November 2023 that Dulces Cuh Mexican Candy expanded to a third location, replacing the Frontier Mall Journey's location; at the time, their other two locations were at Castle Rock Outlets (Castle Rock, CO) and Flatiron Crossing (Broomfield, CO).

A Frontier Mall Directory found in the Wyoming State Tribune-Eagle and dated Mar. 17, 18, 1981 indicates that this space used to be subdivided into two separate spaces; the space closer to Orange Julius and Tacos Etc. (present-day Kacee Lillie Boutique) was occupied by Karmelkorn, while the space closer to Jean Nicole (present-day Buckle) was occupied by T-Shirts Plus.
Other tenants present after 1981 and before 2001 aren't currently confirmed by Optopolis, but a 2001-save of the Frontier Mall Directory confirms that Journey's was present in this location since at least 2001.
The closure 'wasn't announced' (but it technically was, though)
In early June 2025, a Facebook user that goes by the name of Ardel HL posted to Cheyenne Community Connections and Latinos Unidos Cheyenne, WY that the Cheyenne Dulces Cuh would be closing at the end of June 2025. In the months prior to making this post, this Facebook user posted a video of the Cheyenne Dulces Cuh to the Cheyenne Community Connections group, in addition to other photos that were posted of the Cheyenne store on Ardel HL's profile. While the post was still publicly visible, Optopolis asked Ardell HL if the closure would impact the two Colorado stores, to which Ardell HL said it wouldn't.

However, the Castle Rock Outlets location has been temporarily closed since at least April 26th, 2024 when Dulces Cuh made an Instagram post stating that the Castle Rock Location would be temporarily closed until such time that they could find, "a bigger space at a better location in the outlets." At this time, Google Maps claims that the location is permanently closed, and it's not clear if or when the Castle Rock store will reopen. The Castle Rock Outlets directory also doesn't list Dulces Cuh.
EDIT 08-06: As of Monday, August 4th, 2025, a visit to Flatiron Crossing made by Optopolis confirmed that Broomfield's Dulces Cuh Mexican Candy was still open and in operation. Doors were open on the space, and product was in stock. The location can be found listed on Flatiron Crossing's Directory.

Sometime in recent weeks, the Dulces Cuh Facebook Page was deleted. Their Instagram page is still active, but their last post was posted 25 weeks ago, showing a video of the Broomfield location. The post only mentioned the Cheyenne and Broomfield stores, not the Castle Rock one, when encouraging potential customers to visit.
Sometime after Ardell HL made the Facebook post stating that the Cheyenne store would close, Wyoming Tribune Eagle Staff reportedly contacted the main owner of the business, Marla Corral; according to Noah Zahn's article, Corral said that, 'she was unaware of who made the post and said the store has not announced any plans to close,' leaving at least some Cheyenne residents confused.
Since the time of making the closure posts in these two Facebook groups, Ardell HL's Facebook posts about the closure appear to have been deleted.
Cheyenne Dulces Cuh shutters in spite of recent reporting
As of Monday, June 30th, the store was still open as confirmed by Optopolis. As of Tuesday, July 1st, the store was observed by Optopolis to be shuttered as of 45 minutes before the mall closed for the night; since Tuesdays are often quiet days for businesses, further observation was made by Optopolis on July 3rd, only to find the same situation: gates down, remaining products still inside, store darkened, and no one present.

To further verify the status of the Cheyenne store, Optopolis made another visit on Saturday, July 5th; sure enough, the store appeared to be unchanged from visits made on July 3rd and July 1st, respectively.
Ardell's Facebook post (discussed above) indicates that the closure is in response to low sales at the Cheyenne location. Ardell HL said they didn't want this to happen. In the days following Ardell's post, Optopolis and other Cheyenne residents observed that some items on the shelves were running out of stock and not being restocked.

It's not clear to Optopolis if the Cheyenne store may reopen at some point or if this is the end of the Cheyenne store. For now, this closure leaves Frontier Mall with no specialty candy shop, although Bomgaars currently has a selection of pre-packaged candy available, including salt water taffy. Some freeze-dried candy can also be picked up from Rocket Snacks at Friends Creative Studio, located next to Dillard's.
