CHEYENNE - The new Tropical Treasures Wyo fish shop located along South College Drive is scheduled to open on Saturday, July 12th and hold a grand opening through July 13th.

A glimpse at the history

Late last December (in 2024), Tropical Treasures Wyo created a Facebook post discussing their journey into the fish-keeping world. They state that, upon relocating to Cheyenne in 2021, "[the owners] found [themselves] with the space and opportunity to indulge in [their fish keeping] passion. What began as a single 125-gallon aquarium quickly evolved into a diverse collection of tanks." They started to enhance their home decor with vibrant aquatic life.

According to their Facebook page, Tropical Treasures Wyo was first officially established in 2023. Tropical Treasures Wyo is owned by Daphne and Garold Miller as confirmed by their Wyoming Business Filing.

What about Tropical Treasures' storefront?

While a detailed tenant history isn't entirely clear to Optopolis at this time, the white-colored building which houses Tropical Treasures was, according to the Laramie County Property Assessor, built in 2003. As of 2011, Unit D was occupied by MidCo Supply, a business offering pipe, valves, and fittings.

Based on observations of Google Maps Streetview, it appears that it was between 2019 and 2021 when the MidCo space was repurposed by neighboring-business, Factory Direct Trailers; their branding had been added to the building during that time frame.

Factory Direct Trailers' current Facebook page indicates that they were in the process of relocating as of March 25th, 2025. By the end of March, they opened their new location, and they held a grand re-opening on June 5th, 2025 in conjunction with the Cheyenne Chamber of Commerce and the Red Carpet Committee. Factory Direct Trailer Sales is now located at 4520 Red Mesa Road (or along US-30 across the street from Cheyenne Church of Christ, also east of Christensen Road).

Tropical Treasures Wyo announces opening day, grand opening

Tropical Treasures recently announced that they would be holding a grand opening on July 12th and 13th. Their hours on these two days will be 10 AM to 7 PM on Saturday, July 12th; and 10 AM to 4 PM on Sunday, July 13th.

Their store features freshwater fish, live plants, unique aquascaping décor, and expert advice. During the first week of July, they did a brief live stream to Facebook showing a preview of their store, where they also mentioned that the shop includes some donated fish.

While it's been many months in the works to open a store, it was only back at the end of April 2025 when Tropical Treasures got the keys to their new location, according to a Facebook post of theirs that was created on April 25th.

The Tropical Treasures Wyo storefront is located at 190 South College Drive, Unit D. This is next door to Parker Store Hose and Fitting Service, but also near Signs65 and New Frontier Self Storage, also just south of East Fox Farm Road.

After their Grand Opening weekend, they plan to be open Tuesday to Saturday at 10 AM to 7 PM. While their storefront is in Cheyenne, their website's homepage states that they ship to all lower US 48 states.

Their phone number is (307) 369-1118, and you can also email them at tropicaltreasureswyo@gmail.com.

Let us know your thoughts...

It's been years since Cheyenne had a notable place to find live aquatic fish, except for, perhaps, Petco. What are your thoughts of Cheyenne getting a new live-fish shop? Let us know in the comments!
