There was recently a close call with this Blog after a false positive in the automated moderation system locked this entire page down--or in otherwords, it was banned/suspended. For more than eight hours last Wednesday, content on this blog page was inaccessible both on the front/public end and on the back/private end.
False positive breaks Blogger, bans hundreds
Throughout the last five days, hundreds of people were suddenly getting banned for non existent, "Malware and Similar Malicious Content." Unfortunately, the Optopolis BlogSpot page was one of the blogs affected by this bug, and it was offline for over eight hours.
Seeing how fragile these online media platforms are on the individual account level and how easy it is to be wiped off without any notice, it's important to not rely on just one platform. This is one of the many reasons why I started Cheyenne's Retail Minute.
What you can do to maintain connection to those on the internet who you follow
One of the best things you can do to avoid having this issue affect you and those you follow is to have/follow multiple platforms. In the case of Optopolis, you can find Optopolis on YouTube, Patreon, Facebook, Instagram, Discord, and also quiet life boats on Mastadon and Bluesky. Most who are familiar with the internet know to be on multiple platforms, but crucially, the ones where their people are located.
Oh, and can't forget about LinkTree! Optopolis does also exist on that platform, although it's not a social media platform.
Print media might still be better... on some level
Unfortunately, even with the best of efforts, it is still possible to be wiped off of major platforms on the internet regardless of whether you were in the wrong. Perhaps, the best alternative to internet is traditional, physical media. There's not much of a distribution algorithm or automated moderation system in real life; you just have to show up by putting one foot in front of the other.
