CHEYENNE - The new Senior Activity Center of Laramie County, located between Cox Court and East Pershing Boulevard near North College Drive and Foxcrest Elderly Housing, is scheduled to open on July 7th, 2025 at 8 AM. Events at the old activity center on Thomes Avenue will continue through June 30th.
For those unaware, the new facility intends to provide dining service; activity rooms for playing games, socializing, and fitness; and a "convenient location" that provides access to parking and route bus service. According to their website, they intend to "continue to support older adults through nutritious meals, social activities, wellness resources, and other services that promote independence and overall well-being. These services will remain free or low-cost for seniors."

[Construction breaks ground]
Back in November 2023, ground began to break next to the Foxcrest Elderly Housing facility on what would soon be the new location for the Senior Activity Center of Laramie County. In November 2023, Laramie County Senior Services created a news post that included renderings of what the facility would soon look like.
The facility was to be built in the area of what was previously used as a parking lot accessible from Cox Court, and by March 2024, framework and exterior walling that would make up the building was actively being installed.
By mid-October 2024, the multi-level building appeared to be nearly complete, as though it could open at any time; even the landscaping around the building appeared to be mostly ready to go. This left many Cheyenne residents taking to local Facebook groups to ask when the facility would open.
[Amenities, bus service, and accessibility]
A news post from January 2025 included additional photos and information about the facility. Quote, "The new 15,000 sq ft facility will be a game-changer for our senior community, with two spacious floors and state-of-the-art amenities. Additionally, the new building will include 78 parking spots, ensuring that our seniors, their families, and visitors have a convenient and accessible experience."
In addition, in March 2025, the Northeast bus' out-bound route to the North Walmart has been rerouted to include the bus shelter in front of Maverik at North College Drive and East Pershing Boulevard. It is scheduled to stop in front of Maverik one time per hour, departing from the stop at 17 minutes after the hour during operational hours.
As a result of this change, it is relatively possible for seniors and visitors at the Senior Activity Center to take advantage of the fixed-route bus system that runs in Cheyenne. Currently, no fare is necessary to use the fixed-route city bus service. Click here for a 2025 bus route map, or click here for bus service hours and other information.
[Delays and complications]
There have been some complications that resulted in the delayed opening of the facility. Wyoming Tribune Eagle details this issue further in their recent article on this topic, but to keep things simple, there was a complication in land ownership among other complications that prevented certain aspects of the project from continuing, and the complications are still on-going.
However! According to Laramie County Commissioner Troy Thompson, the process of the HUD siging off on an environmental assessment is still on-going, "but in the meantime, because everybody sees this new senior center and wants it to be opened, we're going to enter into a memorandum of understanding with the [Cheyenne Housing Authority] that will allow us to provide senior services until that sale is complete."
Announced to open in July 2025!
As mentioned above, people have been wondering for many months when the new Senior Activity Center would open, and now, we have an answer. Laramie County Senior Services has announced that the center's new location, 4100 E Pershing Blvd, will be opening to the public on July 7th, 2025 at 8 AM.

According to their video and post on Facebook, the facility will be open Monday to Friday at 8 AM to 5 PM. The video does display an elevator that can maneuver people between the different levels of the building, and it also shows some of the amenities and community areas inside of the building, including various activity rooms.
The Laramie County Senior Services website indicates that activities will continue at 2101 Thomes Avenue until June 30th, according to a message displayed at the top of their website. They are set to be closed July 1-4 for the relocation and holiday. Regular hours will resume at the new location, opening at 8 AM on July 7th.
You can contact Laramie County Senior Services by calling (307) 635-2435 or emailing info@lcseniorservices.com. The new activity center is located at 4100 East Pershing Boulevard, and will be open Monday to Friday at 8 AM to 5 PM.
