CHEYENNE - Someone recently posted to the Cheyenne Community Connections Facebook Group that Moody's Rock Stop is closed, and as it turns out, the closure appears to be a temporary one due to a remodel that is taking place.
Recent events and a glance at the history
Ivan Moody, a lead singer in the Five Finger Death Punch (5FDP) band, decided to place his roots in Cheyenne when retiring from heavy metal. He made his retirement announcement at the Ball Arena in Denver Colorado on October 14th, 2022. Ivan and his band later made an appearance at Cheyenne Frontier Days, putting on a performance on July 26th, 2023.

In June 2023, Moody announced that he had moved to Cheyenne and had plans to open two new businesses in the city, the first of which is Moody's Rock Stop, a convenience store which replaced the Corner Stop at the intersection of West Pershing Blvd and Snyder Avenue.
On Moody's Rock Stop's first official day open, July 15th of 2023, both a grand opening and block party celebrating the two new businesses was held, during which part of Snyder Avenue was closed. The convenience store is tranasitioning into new ownership (more information below).
The event attracted hundreds of people, as noted by Cap City's Stephanie Lam. During the event, Ivan was awarded the key to the city. The station is still operational, although right now, it's temporarily closed for remodel.
The second business Ivan wanted to open was called Ciara Coral, located along East 19th Street near Evans Avenue, and it was set to treat addiction and mental health disorders. It replaced a space whose door previously displayed the logo of Humble Horizon Home Health. Ciara Coral held a ribbon cutting on July 17th, 2023.

Unlike the gas station, Ciara Coral appears to be closed; as of mid-April 2025, the Ciara Coral logo is no longer displayed on the door leading to their space, and a key storage box with a pass code could be seen hanging from the door handle. Back in January 2024, more than a year ago, a member of the Cheyenne Community Connections Group was reportedly unable to contact Ciara Coral. It's not entirely clear at this time here at Optopolis, as to what is happening/has happened with Ciara Coral.
Moody's Rock Stop is transitioning into new ownership.
A sign that could have been seen posted in the door of Moody's Rock Stop around the start of the remodel confirms that Moody's Rock Stop will soon have new owners. The sign stated, "Dearest Valued Customer:"
The store will be closed temporarily as we transition business ownership.
It has been our great privilege to serve each of you and we have been beyond blessed to experience the love and connection of the community you brought into our little corner store. Every one of our patrons are so valued and appreciated for all the ways you invested in the business and enriched our lives. Our hope is that this store continues to thrive and that we have the opportunity to see each of you again as we go forward in our gem of a town.
The note finishes off, "All our love and appreciation, Your Rock Stop Family." A worker at Moody's Rock Stop shared the above notice with Optopolis and told Optopolis that Moody's Rock Stop does now have new owners; Ivan Moody no longer has anything to do with the business. This sign could be seen shortly before remodeling began under new ownership; unfortunately, this sign was no longer present as of the time of Optopolis' visit.
What's up with the remodel?
A fuel storage UST/AST permit in the Cheyenne Permits and Planning Website states that the eight existing fuel dispensers are to be replaced with eight new ones on the existing islands and utilizing existing power connections. Two of the pumps will, "require replacing the conduit from the island [and] back to the store," as noted in the work description of permit app# BP-24-02367.
The work description later goes on to say, "As requested by the Fire Marshal [in] summer of '23, [Patriot Petroleum Solutions] will work with the store owner to configure a plan to repair/replace the conduit system to all other fueling points."
An electrical permit, App# BP-24-02367-01, indicates that Patriot Petroleum Solutions will take care of restoring the concrete in the work area. It also repeats some of the information displayed in the fuel storage permit mentioned above.
A sign on the front of the gas station confirms that it's closed for remodel, meaning this closure most likely isn't permanent. New information added above in this article confirms that the closure isn't permanent, just that the shop will be reopening under new ownership. Seeing the permits that were recently submitted and approved, the station will likely soon be open to the public, once again. It does appear to Optopolis at this time that the station will be changing hands; while the Wyoming Business website doesn't list a change in ownership, the Loopnet listing for Moody's Rock Stop indicates it's now under contract.

- 12:48 PM MT to add minor clarity at the end of the article; there has been speculation of a sale of the business. While the Wyoming Business website doesn't indicate any change in ownership, a Loopnet listing does list Moody's as "Under Contract."
- 2:18 PM MT to add further clarity based on other information discovered by Optopolis.
- 8:56 PM MT to add newly discovered information about the shop, courtesy Moody's Rock Stop management. This info wasn't present as of Optopolis' visit, possibly due to intense weather conditions or other complications that may have removed the sign that included key information.
