CHEYENNE - Barrett Creek Coffee has announced that they sold their food truck and will be opening inside of the Cheyenne Depot Plaza in Downtown Cheyenne. Their last day at the food truck was Friday, April 18th in front of Sam's Club on Dell Range Blvd.
A glance at the history
Barrett Creek Coffee was a coffee food truck previously run by a resident of Burns, Wyoming, known as Marriam Miller. It opened officially in August 2022, at which point, Marriam was reportedly only 23 years old. Since that time, the food truck has popped up at various locations throughout Cheyenne. It even set up shop at the Delta Kappa Gamma Annual Used Book Sale earlier this year! On February 25th, 2025, Barrett Creek Coffee posted to their Facebook page that they'd be making some big changes to their business, and the first step was selling their food trailer (now sold).

As for the Cheyenne Depot Plaza. Currently, the Depot Plaza building houses Accomplice Beer Company (formerly occupied by the Shadows Brewing Co. Pub & Grill) in addition to the Depot Museum and their gift shop, and the visitor center.
In the upper levels, one will find offices for Visit Cheyenne, Greater Cheyenne Chamber of Commerce, Cheyenne LEADS, and the Depot Museum Administrative Offices. Outside of the building is a large pedestrianized space that includes seasonal water features and a large open space for events including Cheyenne Frontier Days and Friday Nights on the Plaza.

A long time ago, the Union Pacific Depot Plaza building was used to deliver and pick up rail passengers traveling to or from Cheyenne. The up-and-coming Front Range Passenger Rail project did consider this facility for future reuse as a future passenger rail station, but restraints of the building and its location make such reuse infeasible at this time. Instead, the FRPR plan currently anticipates the use of one of two locations on the west edge of Downtown Cheyenne, either off of Old Happy Jack Road or along Reed Avenue.

On Wednesday, April 16th, Barrett Creek Coffee posted to Facebook, "This week we say goodbye to the Barrett Creek Coffee truck—and hello to our brand-new home inside the Cheyenne Depot Plaza." The post goes on to say that, "We're now getting ready to open the doors of our first-ever brick-and-mortar location—opening May 2025!"

This means that the food truck's final day, as confirmed by Barrett Creek Coffee, was Friday, April 18th, located in front of Sam's Club on Dell Range Blvd, opening at 8 AM and closing at 1 PM.
Barrett Creek Coffee has told Optopolis that their new location will be located in the main lobby of the Depot Plaza building, between the museum and Accomplice Beer Company. They indicated that it's curtained off for right now while things are being gathered and put together for the new location.

On a weekend visit to the Depot Plaza Building in mid-April 2025 and during a local market event, Optopolis discovered the area soon-to-be occupied by Barrett Creek Coffee indeed curtained off at this time.
Update 04-28: Opening date announced!
Barrett Creek Coffee just posted to their sovial media which day they plan to open. That day is May 17th, 2025, during Depot Days. According to the Cheyenne.org website, Depot Days features, "access to the UP Steam Shop, home of Big Boy 4014, the Heritage Collection in the Roundhouse, the Cheyenne Depot Museum featuring Harry Brunk's UC&N model railroad, and more!"

It's not yet clear to Optopolis what Barrett Creek Coffee's store hours will look like. It's also not yet clear if or how their menu may change.
Update 05/05 - The owner of Barrett Creek Coffee has said that she will be having more food available, such as pastries.
Update 05-10: Giveaway of free coffee
Barrett Creek Coffee is celebrating their opening by giving away some free coffee during opening weekend. To enter, Barrett Creek asks people to like their post on either Instagram or Facebook, follow their page "for double entries," and "tag a coffee-loving friend you can't wait to visit with for triple entries." Winners will be announced Monday just before their Grand Opening event.
Update 05-16 and 05-18: The cafe opens at 7 AM on May 17th, and their hours will be as follows:
- Mon to Thu: 7 AM to 3 PM
- Fri to Sat: 7 AM to 8 PM.
- Sunday: CLOSED
Update 05-20: Now open!
Barrett Creek Coffee is now open! Their first day occurred during Depot Days, and there were also vendors set up inside of the Depot Plaza building.
Their menu indicates that the new shop has coffee and lates; and non-coffee beverages such as tea, hot chocolate, italian soda, and smoothies; in addition to pre-packaged items like water, juice, and regular soda. Further, on the first day, visitors could find cookies, bread, and pastries that were baked in-house!
