Ziggi's Coffee just put out an announcement on their Thomes Avenue Facebook page, stating that the location will be closing permanently. It operated for less than two years.

A glimpse at recent events with Ziggi's

Ziggi's Coffee first made their way into Cheyenne with a drive-thru-only location on Yellowstone Road that opened at the end of July 2021. They expanded in 2023 to a second location inside of the City Center building that Western Vista Credit Union currently occupies; this is on the corner of Thomes Avenue and West 20th Street, across from the Cheyenne Civic Center. This location didn't have a drive thru, but did feature a small dining room and was set to feature a walk-up window.

The Thomes Avenue Ziggi's Coffee opened on February 21st, 2023. Western Vista and Ziggi's held a grand opening celebration on February 24th, during which, loads of visitors were present. At the time, the walk-up window that would allow people to walk up to the store from outside was still being constructed and not yet open. Eventually, the walk-up window was completed, and by July 2023, one did not have to go inside to order... unless they wanted to go inside to order.

A third Cheyenne Ziggi's Coffee opened in March 2024 at the corner of East Pershing Boulevard and Airport Parkway. This location features two drive thru lanes and a walk-up window. It does have a patio, but no interior dining room.

Plans were previously being assembled for a new Ziggi's Coffee in the area of the up-and-coming Hitching Post Plaza on West Lincolnway, as is noted in a city document from September 2023 found on the Cheyenne Projects ArcGIS Map. Back in February 2024, there was an item pinned with the project number PUDC-23-124 which wasn't yet approved. It's unclear if or when that location will come, though nearby hotels (Hampton and Everhome) are nearly built.

Thomes Avenue Ziggi's announced to close

At about 12:47 PM MT on August 26th, 2024, the Thomes Avenue Ziggi's posted to their Facebook page that they will be closing their cafe on Friday, August 30th. They stated that, "After careful consideration and reflection, we have made the difficult decision to permanently close our beloved Ziggi's." A sign could be seen in the walk-up window confirming this information. Their Facebook post reminds people that there are two other Ziggi's Coffee locations in Cheyenne that will continue to operate.

Ziggi's Coffee is a newer chain of coffee restaurants that started in Downtown Longmont, Colorado twenty years ago. The Ziggi's website map indicates that Ziggi's has locations in Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Maine, Michigan, Missouri, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Texas, Utah, and Wyoming.

All Wyoming locations currently listed are in Cheyenne. Other nearby locations can be found in Ault, Wellington, and Fort Collins in Colorado. It has not been particularly common for Ziggi's to close any locations although one location in Longmont did close in 2023.

By the time a visit by Optopolis was made yesterday afternoon, the Thomes Avenue Ziggi's had already closed for the day. The hours at Ziggi's on Thomes Avenue are 7 AM to 2:30 PM each day of the week. At this time, a listing for the City Center Building doesn't appear to list any spaces in the building for lease.

Update 08/30: What's next

According to the owner of the Thomes Avenue Ziggi's Coffee, there is interest in having a local ma-and-pa shop open up in the former Thomes Avenue Ziggi's. He mentioned that he wants to put his focus toward his other businesses such as his other Ziggi's locations.
