Twinkle Twinkle Little Store's Tivoli Building location (Downtown) will be moving to the Frontier Mall across the hall from Compass Rose Gifts and Beautiful Addiction. According to their Facebook page, an investment group bought the Tivoli Building and isn't renewing their lease.

A glimpse of history: Tivoli Bldg, Twinkle Twinkle Little Store

The three-story Victorian building at the corner of Lincolnway and Carey Avenue is one of the many buildings that gives a classic and aged charm to Downtown Cheyenne, and yes, it's believed to be haunted. The section of Carey Avenue lining the edge of the Tivoli Building has seen various changes in use over the years, and for a long time up until the turn of the 2010s, this section of Carey Avenue served as a small pedestrianized plaza. According to the Cheyenne historic walking tour booklet, Tivoli was originally a restaurant and saloon built in 1883, but it was rebuilt with two more floors in 1892 (a total of three floors and a basement).

While a very detailed history of the Tivoli Building isn't currently known at Optopolis, Cheyenne city directories give a glimpse into its history. In 1955, Tivoli Liquor Store was indicated at the location of the Tivoli Building. In 1970, Frontier Printing & Mailing Co was listed at this location. The city directory from 1980 doesn't appear to list the Tivoli Building, but in 1990, the Greater Cheyenne Chamber of Commerce was listed at this location. This building was on the market in 2016, and it was purchased that same year by Otis Investments LLC.

A sign on the side of Tivoli Building talking about the building's history says that the Tivoli Building, "has been a landmark since Cheyenne's early days when the town was known as the 'Paris of the West.'" It specifically states that a Sam Marchick purchased the building in 1919 and opened a clothing store, only for a beer garden to open after Prohibition ended. It notes that, "the Marchick family owned the Tivoli building until 1976."

Twinkle Twinkle Little Store on the other hand, didn't start at the Tivoli Building. Their original location is on Ridge Road (still open today), and their business was filed with the state of Wyoming in March 2020. It's best described as a meta-physical shop which has to do with offering products and services regarding spirituality and individual growth; some may view shops like this as "too witchy" or confusing as was discussed in a Wyoming Tribune Eagle article covering various perceptions of metaphysical shops and metaphysics.

In July 2023, the shop stated on their Facebook page that they'd be opening their second store inside the Tivoli Building. The Downtown location opened by the time Frontier Days rolled around. On Saturday, October 14th, 2023, Twinkle Twinkle Little Store held a grand opening at their new Downtown location. Right now in addition to offering products at each of their storefronts, Twinkle Twinkle Little Store also has an Etsy Shop called Wyoming Mermaid where you can find some metaphysical products online.

Twinkle Twinkle Little Store to move, building being purchased

On November 22nd, Twinkle Twinkle Little Store posted to their Facebook page that they'd be moving to Frontier Mall by the end of December 2024. The store stated that an investment group bought the Tivoli Building and isn't renewing the store's lease. At the moment, issuu still lists the information about the building, whose page was published on September 11th; it indicates that the building was offered at $1.4M.

In the comments of their post, Twinkle Twinkle Little Store stated that the Ridge Road location will be open while they renovate the mall location. They told people that if there is something they carry Downtown and not at the Ridge Road location, one is to let the store know, and they will make it available at the Ridge location.

While Optopolis had suspicion of where within the Frontier Mall the new store would locate, it wasn't certain at Optopolis until recently, when speculation became a matter of fact. Signs posted throughout the Frontier Mall and inside the window of the soon-to-be new location confirm that they will be taking over the old CJ Banks/Bumpers Arcade space (that is, two doors down from the existing Bumpers Arcade, former DEB).

Most recently, Optopolis noticed that the space was very briefly used by Sherman Hill Model Railroad Club, during which time one could see model railroads set up on tables inside the space. Sherman Hill still has their normal, main location next to Beautiful Addictions Tattoo and Joann. According to CBL Leasing and Advertising Manager, Ashley Haefs, the opening date of the new Twinkle Twinkle Little Store (and The Playground) is still to be determined, and the soon-to-be Twinkle Twinkle Little Store location hasn't yet been added to the directory on the Frontier Mall website.

How do you feel about a new owner taking over the Tivoli Building? Do you think the new Tivoli Building owner should have continued Twinkle Twinkle Little Store's lease? Let us know in the comments!

Yes. I think the Owner should have renewed their lease at the Trivoli building. Tim and Patricia did alot of extra renovations there, and they won't get credit for. That's not fair. Well, Karma happens. I'm sure the owner will regret his decision. Tim and Patricia will be great at the mall also. It will be a sight to behold what unfolds next.
