Recent events and what's Marky's

Back in the year 2022, Wyoming Ranch Foods expanded to Cheyenne, opening in the vacant space next door to Winters Griffith Architect's downtown office, but WRF closed in late 2023. Less than a year later in early 2024, Marky's Meat Market announced plans to open a Cheyenne store.

Marky's Meat Market is a family owned meat market/butcher shop based out of Gering, Nebraska (just south of Scottsbluff). They take pride in "only offering aged, high choice meats." In late February 2024, they began the process of preparing their Cheyenne shop. They originally wanted to open on April 1st, but things didn't work out that way.

It turns out the process of crossing state lines with food products and services isn't exactly quick and easy due to regulations that are in place. As such, the store was mostly put on hold for a few months... that was until recently.

Items were starting to be stocked as of August 24th - Optopolis

On July 2nd, they reached out to their followers looking for a licensed contractor who could hang their exterior signs. On August 5th, Marky's announced they got approval to open in Cheyenne. Signs went up on the 16th, and as of August 24th, a passerby may have noticed products beginning to be stocked.

Cheyenne store set to softly open on Friday

At the start of September, Marky's announced that they'd be softly opening the Cheyenne store on Friday (September 6th). The store is located at 209 East 19th Street just east of Warren Avenue on the south side of East 19th Street (the same building Winters Griffith Architects occupies). According to their Facebook post, their hours for the first three days at the Cheyenne store are as follows:

  • Friday 10-6
  • Saturday 9-2
  • Sunday 10-2

In the comments of Marky's recent Facebook posts, many have expressed excitement to see the store expand to Cheyenne. One Facebook user by the name of James B. commented in part that, "It's gonna be great. It's gonna be better than big box stores."

Marky's Meat Market opens tomorrow! - Optopolis

Late last year, Marky's posted a menu displaying many of their products. When asked by Optopolis, they stated that most products will be available in the Cheyenne store, and any of their products not in the Cheyenne store will be offered for delivery to/pickup from the Cheyenne store. Marky's mentioned that, at the moment, seafood isn't anticipated to be in stock at the Cheyenne store just yet.

What do you think of Marky's finally opening their store in Cheyenne? How many of you have visited their Gering store? Let us know your thoughts on this expansion in the comments!
