Back in March 2024, Mi Tierra announced they would open a new location, and now, the restaurant on East Lincolnway is open!

A glance at Mi Tierra's history and announcement of a new location

It appears Mi Tierra's roots date back to at least the 2010s, located on Dell Range Boulevard nearer to Yellowstone Road--sharing the building that C-Mart currently occupies.

In 2021, Mi Tierra was in the process of opening a second location on Stillwater Avenue in the Greenway Commons Plaza, roughly one mile away from their Dell Range Boulevard location. This location is no longer affiliated with Mi Tierra on East Lincolnway, although Mi Tierra on E Lincolnway states that they still use the Mi Tierra branding and Mi Tierra recipes.

Tortilla Factory Express once occupied the space that became Mi Tierra's second restaurant. Although this Tortilla Factory location closed, Tortilla Factory still has a location along South Greeley Highway south of Cheyenne.

On March 21st, 2024, Mi Tierra posted to their Facebook page that they would be opening another location in Cheyenne, with more details coming soon. On April 11th, they posted a photo of their new location.

When passing by Mi Tierra at the Greenway Commons Plaza on May 9th, it was discovered here at Optopolis that the location had closed. The tables and chairs inside the space had even been removed. Google Maps currently lists the Stillwater Avenue location as permanently closed.

Grand opening announced for new location

On June 25th, Mi Tierra posted to their Facebook page, this time to announce that their grand opening day was on the way; they stated that the restaurant was set to have the grand opening on Friday, July 28th. The post included a video that showed some glimpses inside of the restaurant, and for the video, they even put on a bit of a show!

It appears the restaurant technically did already open as a video posted to Facebook on July 24th reveals; the video shows that in the morning of July 24th, one could walk up and purchase a breakfast burrito. In fact, throughout Frontier Days, one could get food at the new restaurant as another Facebook post from July 22nd shows.

A video uploaded on July 27th took a quick walk through of the interior of the store. The video showed that you could still walk up and buy a burrito. People were also present inside the building, sitting at tables enjoying their meals.

On June 28th, Mi Tierra Restaurant posted a video officially mentioning the storefront's location, hours, and more--encouraging Cheyenne residents to visit the restaurant during the Grand Opening that day.

Located at 1602 East Lincolnway, the new restaurant is open Monday to Saturday. Their hours each day at the new location are 7 AM to 9 PM. Based on a post from July 31st, it appears the restaurant is still doing breakfast burritos each morning.

What do you think about Mi Tierra having a location closer to Downtown Cheyenne? Have you tried their food before, and if not, will you?

Updated: 08/01/2024 at 9:53 AM MT to add a detail about the Dell Range restaurant and add a source to confirm that the Stillwater and Dell Range locations were related. It's not clear to Optopolis at this time if the Dell Range store still has affiliation with the current Mi Tierra restaurant, but several locals have stated that they are not currently affiliated/no longer affiliated.

Updated: 08/01/2024 at 10:07 AM MT to add an additional photo and move an existing one to the top of the article. The original cover photo has been removed from this article in an effort to avoid possible confusion.

Updated: 08/01/2024 at 10:34 AM MT to specify that the Dell Range location isn't affiliated any longer with the Lincolnway location as confirmed by Mi Tierra on E Lincolnway. Changed the article title to make it more clear that they have moved. Changed the caption on the first photo to make it more clear that the Stillwater location is closed.
