On the Spot Tires and Service opening in former Palmers

If you've recently taken a walk, ride, or drive down Ridge Road just south of Dell Range Blvd, you may have noticed some "opening soon" signage go up at the site of what used to be Palmer's Auto Service. It turns out that a newer business is opening up in the space!

History of the building/land

If you are a Cheyenne resident and have been one for a decade or more, chances are decent that you remember Palmer's Auto Service, Inc. having a repair shop on Ridge Road just north of Green River St or a few houses south of Dell Range Blvd.

Located at 4302 Ridge Road, the property assessor notes a build date of 1986 for both the main building and a shed on the Palmer's property. The sketch of the site plan notes an add-on in the interior built in 2010. The Wyoming Secretary of State's Business Center page notes that Palmer's was initially filed in 1979, and it notes that it went inactive in 2013.

From the public road, the land often appeared mostly unused for many years, although occasionally, one would see seemingly random vehicles and trailers in the parking lot. At least once in recent years, one could have seen an Amazon trailer parked in the lot (coincidentally, as seen in Google Maps Street View).

On the Spot Mobile Tires and Service comes into the picture

Doesn't the name state it all? On the Spot Mobile Tires and Service is a business that prides itself on the repair/replacement of tires. Studying their Facebook page, one can quickly see that On the Spot has been coming to people to fix their tires (after all, "Mobile" is in their name). Other services they offer include oil change and 24/7 roadside service; their various posts make it clear that they are open to working on a wide variety of vehicles.

For many weeks now, they've been teasing that they were trying to get their hands on the former Palmer's on Ridge Road. According to a Facebook post from On The Spot, the local business is coming up on two years since they started running their business, and as of the end of July, they had officially gotten a deal set up for the old Palmer's space.

Previously, On the Spot signage went up around the old Palmer's building. A conversation with the owner revealed that they plan to open on September 2nd, and as such, an event has been set up on their Facebook page (the event notes a start time of 9 AM and an end time of 3 PM). He also shared that they plan to have a raffle and also food trucks present for the event.

According to the aforementioned Facebook post, On the Spot plans to be open 7 AM - 7 PM, Monday through Saturday.

New event info! (Update 9-01)

As seen in a recent Facebook post from On the Spot (embedded above), there is new information regarding the event on September 2nd! There will be two food trucks present for the event: Noam's Table and Barrett Creek Coffee.

The Facebook post notes that the raffle will include vouchers for the following.

  • Four free new tires to fit your vehicle, limit of $1,500.
  • Three free oil changes, up to 6 quarts
  • 3 free one-on-one puppy training sessions from Pup Master Academy, a puppy gift bag, and one free Oil Change from On The Spot
Tickets will be 1 for $15, or $10 each for multiple. Also, as a bonus; any appointment scheduled in person tomorrow will receive 5% off the entire estimate!

Love to see small business thrive in our community, seems only right that another similar small business has the opportunity to grow in the location where a very successful business was previously established.
