Downtown Kum & Go is now "hi MARKET"

You may have noticed something happening at one of Cheyenne's Kum and Go locations--more specifically, Kum and Go #956 near the corner of Warren Ave and E 16th St/E Lincolnway is rebranding!

Some Historical Info

At one time, the area where Kum and Go stands today was once a Burger Chef, a fast-food chain that had locations all over the US. Burger Chef stood in this location until at least 1979 (Burger Chef sign can be seen at left in this photo).

An Exxon gas station along with some other building were also once present on this block (both to the west of Burger Chef) as seen in this photo from 1977.

According to the Laramie County Property Assessor map, the building where Kum and Go resides today was built in 1988.

Unfortunately, here at Optopolis, the history between 1988 and 2007 on the station (and the rest of the block) is rather vague; it's unclear if Kum and Go had replaced another gas station (such as is the case with the Dell Range/Ridge and S Greeley/E College locations that both started as 7-Eleven stores), or if it was originally Kum and Go.

Other neighboring tenants in the building with this Kum and Go include Cricket Wireless (which took over what was previously a Grandma's Pickle Parlor) and Grease Monkey.

If you know further info of the Warren Ave and E 16th St/E Lincolnway Kum and Go or the neighboring tenants on this block (especially in the years 1988 to 2007), please share your knowledge in the comments of this article.

A new life as hi MARKET

As soon as two months ago in April 2022, the Kum and Go signage began coming down off of the building, pumps and overhang, and standalone sign.

By the start of June, new signs and banners were going up, advertising the store as "hi MARKET." As of the time of checking Kum and Go's website on Sunday, June 19th, the Warren Ave and E16th St/E Lincolnway location was no longer marked as a Kum and Go location.
